Some months ago I’ve developed the Genesis Overlay Widget plugin. This plugin is available in the WordPress repository and is free to download.
The Genesis Overlay Widget plugins creates a full screen overlay widget area. You can add any widget you want to display in the overlay area. The widget is triggered by a button. The plugin is based on the Fullscreen Overlay Styles & Effects code by Codrops. Check out their website for more great stuff and examples.
After installation and activation of the Genesis Overlay Widget plugin navigate to Appearance > Widgets. In the right column a new widget area with the name Overlay Widget is visible.
Add a widget of your choice, for example a custom menu or text widget. If you don’t set a widget there is nothing to show on the frontpage. After setting and saving the widget go to the frontpage of your site and view the result.
Settings
But hold on, there is more! What about some nice extra settings? The Plugin settings can be found in the navigation bar under Genesis.
You can adjust the effect of the Genesis Overlay Widget or you can change the position of the button.
